Coconut shells have been widely used to package coconut flavored ice cream in several European countries. The hardened shell of mature coconuts is horizontally or vertically cut with high-speed blades and the inner and outer surfaces are polished to give a smooth finish. Coconut shells varying volumetric capacity ranging from 185 ml to 200 ml are packaged in corrugated boxes complying with EU standards.
